West Liberty, W.Va. – The Glenville State men’s basketball team gave a great effort but came up short as they fell on the road to #1 West Liberty, 88-107.
The Pioneers would build a 14 point lead in the first half after a three-pointer from Kevin Gray as he made it 23-12 with 13:18 minutes left in the half.
However West Liberty would battle back and claim a 12 point lead heading into halftime, 58-46 over the Pioneers.
In the second half GSC had no answer for the #1 Hilltoppers offense as the Pioneers would fall on the road by 19 points, 107-88.
The Pioneers were plagued with turnovers as they turned it over 24 times. West Liberty’s bench came up big in the win as they out scored the Pioneers bench 37 to 6.
GSC’s Donte Morales posted a game high 34 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the loss. Lamar Mallory also had a good game as he posted a double double with 28 points and 17 rebounds.
Kevin Gray was the only other player for the Pioneers to score in double figures as she chipped in with 13 points.
West Liberty was lead by Devin Hoehn as he scores 21 points. CJ Hester posted a double double for the Hilltoppers as he scored 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers return to the court this weekend Saturday, January 18th when Notre Dame travels to Glenville. Game time is set for 4:00 pm.
