Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers defeated the Notre Dame Falcons, 88-73, on Saturday night at home.
In the first half of play both the Pioneers and Falcons would battle back and fourth, with only about 10:00 minutes till halftime GSC and Notre Dame was all tied up at 18 all. However the Pioneers would then make a run a build a 12 point lead heading into halftime, 45-33.
In the second half the Pioneers poured it on as they cruised to a 15 point win, 88-73.
GSC never trailed in the second half and their largest lead was 25 in the game.
GSC outscored Notre Dame in the paint 52 to 36. The Pioneers also scored 18 second chance points while Notre Dame scored only 5 points.
The Pioneers won the rebounding battle as they outrebounded Notre Dame 44 to 37.
Lamar Mallory scored a game high 28 points. He also finished with a double double as he pulled down 10 rebounds. Donte Morales scored 21 points.
Lamont Cole had a great game as scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds and he finished with a double double. Kevin Gray also scored in double figures as he scored 12 points. Gray also dished out a team high 4 assists.
Notre Dame was led by Lawrence DeArmond as he scored 24 points.
The Pioneers return to action Thursday, January 23rd when West Virginia Wesleyan comes to Glenville. Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
