Glenville, W.Va. – The #10 Glenville State Lady Pioneers Basketball team defeated the Shepherd University Rams on Saturday afternoon by 43 points as they cruised to their 18th win of the season, 119-76.
The Lady Pioneers would cruise to a 31 point lead at halftime, 73-42.
In the second half it would be all GSC as they would roll to a huge victory over the Rams, 119-76.
The Lady Pioneers never trailed in the game as they led the whole way.
GSC’s defense caused 29 turnovers and converted them into 44 points.
The Lady Pioneers outscored the Rams in the paint 56 to 38. GSC scored 31 second chance points while Shepherd scored 14 second chance points.
GSC also won the rebounding battle as they out rebounded the Rams 62 to 45.
The Lady Pioneers had seven players score in double figures with Kenyona Simmons leading the way with 18 points and 7 rebounds.
Tasia Bristow, Kenyell Goodson, and Chanice Lee all finished the night with 13 points.
Tiffani Huffman and Ginny Mills both scored 11 points. Mills also had a game high 5 steals.
Ashleigh Fossett chipped in with 10 points. Aesha Peters grabbed a game high 12 rebounds while Briauna Nix just missed a double double as she scored 9 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Briana Vaden led all scores with 22 points for Shepherd while Rachel Johnson scored 19 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Monday, February 3rd when they hit the road as they travel to Fairmont State for a huge MEC Conference match-up. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
