The Pioneers played a great game, but were not able to pull out the win. GSC led at halftime, 40-38, and controlled most of the game; but turnovers left the door open for the University of Charleston.

The Pioneers held a 77-67 led in the second half with only 3:21 left, but three costly turnovers and a missed free-throw gave UC the chances it needed, with  Jon Liggins hitting a three-pointer with 15 seconds left to tie it 78-78.

The Pioneers had a last second shot, but Nick Dent missed a fade-way jumper that would have given GSC the win.

In overtime, UC went on an eight point run giving them the lead late in overtime. Conversely, GSC was not able to mount any offense in the extra period. Charleston out scored the Pioneers 19 to 8 in the overtime period to seal the win for the Golden Eagles.

The Pioneers also committed 18 costly turnovers in the game.

Justin Caldwell led the Pioneers in scoring with 24 points and dished out a team high 4 assist. Nick Dent had a good game as he scored 16 points; Jonathan Bevins also played well as he scored 14 points and Jeffery “JT” Lewis had his best outing as a Pioneer as he scored 14 points and a grabbed a team high 8 rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by Jon Liggins as he scored a game high 36 points as well as handing out a game high 6 assists. Marco Richardson posted a double- double with 14 points and game high 10 rebounds.

GSC would like to congratulate Nick Dent. Dent broke the GSC all-time career made three pointers Saturday against West Liberty University.
