Fairmont, W.Va. – The #10 Lady Pioneers basketball team went on road and rolled over the Fairmont State University Fighting Falcons as they cruised to a 14 point win, 115-101.
In the first half of play both the Lady Pioneers and the Fighting Falcons would go back and fourth until the 5:37 mark as GSC took an eight point lead, 42-34.
The Lady Pioneers would then take a 13 point lead at the half, 59-46.
In the second half it was all GSC as they never looked backed and would go on to win by 14 points, 115-101.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused 29 turnovers and converted them into 48 points. GSC also scored 30 second chance points while Fairmont scored 25 second chance points.
The Lady Pioneers had seven players score in double figures with Ginny Mills scoring a game high 25 points and had 4 steals. Tiffani Huffman scored 16 points while Kenyona Simmons and Ashleigh Fossett both finished the night with 14 points.
Kenyell Goodson scored 12 points and grabbed a team high 7 rebounds. Briauna Nix scored 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while Keyanna Tate scored 10 points.
Jessica Parsons dished out a team high 6 assists and scored 7 points.
Fairmont State was led by Hailey Garrett and Hallie Gunnoe as both scored 22 points. Garrett also pulled down 12 rebounds as she finished with a double double.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Thursday, February 13th when Urbana travels to Glenville. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
