Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State men’s basketball team cruised to their 14th victory of the season Thursday night as they defeated MEC newcomer Urbana University by 22 points, 90-68.
The Pioneers would waste no time and jump out to a nine point lead, 11-2, early in the first half and it was all GSC from their on out. The Pioneers would take an 18 point halftime lead, 48-30.
In the second half the Pioneers continued their dominate play as they cruised to a 22 point victory over Urbana, 90-68. GSC never trailed in the game.
The Pioneers defense caused 17 turnovers and converted them into 16 points. GSC had a great night shooting the ball as they shot 54 percent from the floor and 50 percent from behind the three point line while Urbana shot 41 percent from the floor and 23 percent from behind the three point line.
GSC had three players score in double figures with Donte Morales leading the way with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Kevin Gray scored 14 points while Lamont Cole scored 12 points in the victory.
Lamar Mallory scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds before fouling out while Brett Morris scored 6 points in his first career start.
Danny Goins scored a game high 27 points for Urbana, he also pulled down 7 rebounds.
The Pioneers return to the court Saturday, February 15th when they travel to Notre Dame College. Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm.
