South Euclid, Ohio – The #10 Glenville State Lady Pioneers defeated Notre Dame College on the road Saturday as they won by 13 points, 70-57. Also with the win the Lady Pioneers captured the inaugural Mountain East Conference (MEC) Regular Season Title.
The Lady Pioneers once again would have to face a slowed down game however GSC was well prepared. In the first half the Pioneers would take an eight point lead, 25-17 as they headed into halftime.
In the second half of play GSC would pick up the play and build a 17 point lead with about 11:13 left to play in the game. Notre Dame would cut the Lady Pioneers lead to 11, 68-57, with only 38 second left to play, but that’s as close as they would get as GSC would win by 13 points, 70-57.
The Lady Pioneers scored 38 points in the paint while Notre Dame scored 22 points in the paint. GSC also scored 20 second chance points while Notre Dame scored 12 second chance points.
The Lady Pioneers won the rebounding battle as they out-rebounded Notre Dame 45 to 41.
GSC had three players score in double figures with Kenyona Simmons leading the way with a game high 21 points, she also grabbed 7 rebounds. Keyanna Tate scored 11 points in the win while Kenyell Goodson chipped in with 10 points.
Jessica Parsons handed out 4 assists while Aesha Peters just missed a double double as she scored 8 points and had 9 rebounds.
Notre Dame was led Martha Nagbe and Danielle Ledrich as they both scored 16 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Thursday, February 20th when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm.
