Buckhannon, W.Va. – The #12 Glenville State Lady Pioneers defeated the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats on the road, 88-80, in the last regular season game.
GSC and WVWC would both struggle early to score, however GSC would then take control and build a seven point lead, 27-20, with 5:46 left till halftime. The Lady Pioneers would take a nine point lead at the half, 40-31.
In the second half it was all GSC as they would get up big and cruise to the victory, 88-80. The game was not as close as the score indicated.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused 25 turnovers and converted them into 26 points.
GSC had five players score in double figures with Kenyell Goodson leading the way with 17 points. Ashleigh Fossett scored 13 points off the bench.
Keyanna Tate finished the game with 12 points and 6 rebounds while Kenyona Simmons and Briauna Nix both scored 10 points each. Ginny Mills dished out a team high 4 assists while Aesha Peters had 6 blocks in the game.
West Virginia Wesleyan was led by Chloe Bland as she scored a game high 23 points and grabbed 16 rebounds as she finished with a double double.
The Lady Pioneers finish the season 25-3 (20-2). They are the number one seed in the MEC Conference Tournament, as they receive a bye in the first round. They will play Thursday, March 6th in Charleston at the Civic Center at 6:00 pm. They will play the winner of theWheeling Jesuit and Concord game.
