East Stroudsburg, Pa. - The Glenville State Pioneers fell to the West Liberty Hilltoppers in the first round of the NCAA DII Basketball Tournament on Saturday afternoon, 88-72.
West Liberty jumped out to a 15-point lead in the first 10 minutes and led by as many as 22 points in the second half, however Glenville refused to give up and mounted a late comeback that closed the gap to 43-36 with a minute left in the half. But West Liberty would hit a three-pointer and head into the locker room with a 46-36 lead at halftime.
In the second half GSC stayed right with the Hilltoppers, but West Liberty would make a a 14-0 run to put the game out of reach as GSC fell, 88-72.
Harris, the 2014 Atlantic Region Player of the Year, led WLU with 22 points, seven assists, six rebounds and five steals. Dyer finished with 15 points while Hester added 13 points and seven boards and Bonifant chipped in with 13 points.
Morales led all scorers with 24 points for the Pioneers, who also got 16 points from Lamar Mallory.
The Pioneers had a great season as they finished with a 18-11 record and made the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
