GSC Men Lost a Heartbreaker to Salem 62-63

The Pioneer Men’s basketball team lost a heartbreaker to Salem International 62-63. The Pioneers were down by 12 points at half, but came out and played a great second half.

With 9:56 left in the game the Pioneers were down 38-52, with time running out the Pioneers came together and scored 11 straight to make it 50-52. Dusty Mullins and Marcus Catney led the charge.
The Pioneers finally took the lead on a Dusty Mullins jumper at the 3:29 mark. Salem came back and tied the game at 62-62 on two made free throws from Josh Marshall. The Pioneers then called a timeout. They came out and got the ball under the basket to senior Gabe Gibbs, Gibbs was then hit hard and no foul was called, Salem then got the ball back, came down and with no time on the clock Kendall Allison gets fouled and goes to the free throw line, Allison misses the first but then nails the second to give the Pioneers a devastating loss.
The Pioneers were led by Dusty Mullins with 15 points, while Gabe Gibbs scored 13 points and pulled down 9 rebounds.
Marcus Catney and Ryan Burts both chipped in with 11 points.                           
Salem was led by Kendall Allison with 28 points and 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday for the finial regular season home game of 2010 as they take on West Virginia Wesleyan College, it is also Senior Day; tipoff is set for 4:00PM.
