The Glenville State Men’s basketball team lost a hard fought game at the hands of Alderson-Broaddus 57-70. The Pioneers came out and scored the first 7 points to give the Pioneers a 7-0 lead with 15:20 left in the first half, but Alderson-Broaddus battled back and stole a win at Jesse R. Lilly Gym.

The Pioneers were led by Gabe Gibbs with 16 points, he also grabbed a team high 5 rebounds. Gibbs was the only Pioneer to reach double figures on the night. Marcus Catney reached a milestone; scoring his 4th points in the second half with 14:52 on the clock, reaching 1,000 points for his career. Catney ended the game with 9 points, which gives him a total of 1,005 points in his career at GSC. Catney is only a junior and will be back next season.
The Pioneers had their worse shooting performance of the season going 3 of 20 from behind the arc, which is an average of 15 percent from three point range.
Alderson-Broaddus was led by Carl Buck on the night; he scored a game high 19 points for the Battlers. AB also had Mark Summerfield scored 10 points, as well as Jamar Board.
The loss brings the Pioneers record to 6-19 overall and 5-15 in conference play. The Pioneers return to action on Thursday when former Assistant Coach Randy Unger returns to the Jesse R. Lilly Gym for the first time, as Salem International’s Head Coach. Tipoff is set for 7:30PM.
