Travis Covert has signed to play golf for the Pioneers next fall

Poca, W.Va. - Travis Covert has signed his National Letter of Intent to play Golf for the Glenville State Pioneers next fall. Travis is from Poca High School, in Poca W.Va.  He is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, and the Vice President of DECA.

Travis has played on the Poca High School golf team for four years, and helped them to four straight runner-up finishes at the WV State Golf Tournament.  Individually he finished in the top ten the last three years with his best finish as 3rd.  He was 1st team all-state in 2012, 1st team all Cardinal Conference in 2012 and 2013, and was awarded academic All Conference honors all four years.  He also finished 1st at the WVGA High School Series at Lewisburg Elks and the team won the Capital City Classic at Big Bend in 2013.

Travis also competed on the WVGA Callaway Junior Tour and the Plantation Junior Golf Tour.  On the 2013 Callaway tour he finished 4th at the Cobb Course at Glade Springs, 3rd at Canaan Valley, and 2nd at Greenhills Country Club in Ravenswood.  On the 2013 Plantation Tour he finished 4th on the Grizzly Course at the Golf Center of Kings Island in Ohio, and 2nd at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Kentucky.

Travis chose Glenville State College because of the low student to faculty ratio, and the fact that Glenville has a great Chemistry program and facilities.  He also wanted to be able to make an immediate impact on the golf team and feels that he can help Glenville become a competitive team in the Mountain East Conference.
