Pioneers Make It Three Straight, Blast Bluefield State

Box Score | Season To Date Stats

The Glenville State Pioneers ran their winning streak to three games in convincing fashion tonight, blasting host Bluefield State, 90-58.  Anthony Kimble recorded his third double-double in a row as he scored 22 points and hauled in 11 rebounds for Glenville State as they improved to 15-8 overall and 9-7 in the WVIAC.  With the win, the Pioneers match the highest season win total for the program since it moved to the NCAA II level in the mid 90′s.

Tryvan Leech added 18 points, Chase Groves scored 15 markers, and Jacob Miller had 11 points off the bench.  All of Miller’s points came in the first half.

Bluefield Sate was led by 19 points from Shannon Thomas and 14 points from Raymon Almon.

The Pioneers led from start to finish as they shot a scorching 62.3% in the opening half, including 9 fo 16 from behind the arc.  Glenville State jumped out to an early 15-3 lead, then pushed it to 32-16 midway through the half en route to grabbing a 53-28 advantage at intermission.

The second half would be much of the same as the Pioneers would push the lead to as many as 35 points before settling on the final score.

For the game Glenville State shot 52.4% (33-63) from the field, 13-30 (43.3%) from the 3pt line, and 11 of 16 (68.8%) from the charity stripe.  Glenville State outrebounded Bluefield State, 39-36, and had just 10 turnovers on the night.

The Pioneers will look to make it four straight as they play host to Concord this Thursday, February 19th.  Tip Off is 7:30 p.m.
