The Glenville State College Pioneer Football team is partnering with the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department (GCVFD) for the Annual Spring Football Game which will be played April 28 at 6:00pm at I.L & Sue Morris Stadium. The game will feature the 2011GSC Pioneer Offense against the Defense.
GSC Spring Football Game to Benefit the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department
“The Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department provides vital services to our community through the efforts of volunteers. These members regularly risk their lives and take time away from their families for the benefit of our community. We wanted to take this opportunity to show them our appreciation for their dedication, and to help raise some much needed funds for them,” said GSC Head Football Coach David Hutchison.
The spring game is free to the public, but the Glenville State College Football team will be collecting donations at the game that will benefit the Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department.
The spring game represents the culmination of spring practice. And after completing the 15 allowed workouts, anticipation is high for the fall campaign. The Pioneers return 19 starters, 9 on offense and 10 on defense, as well as all kickers from last year’s squad. So the Pioneers have great expectations that they can make a run at the 2011 WVIAC Championship.
The Pioneers will open preseason camp on Wednesday, August 10 in preparation for the 2011 season. GSC opens the season on Thursday, September 1 when they host perennial NCAA Division II power Carson Newman.
Anyone who cannot attend the spring game but would like to donate to the GCVFD may contact Coach Hutchison at email@example.com or (304) 462-6230.
