Pioneers Deny Shepherd Perfect Season

GSC Pioneer wide receiver Jordan Griffin hauled in a touchdown catch of 5 yards from quarterback Gabe Prophet in the back of the end zone with 21 seconds left as the Pioneers defeated Shepherd 28-24.

The Pioneer defense controlled the game for three in a half quarters limiting Shepherd to only 10 points. They also intercepted the Rams quarterback Kevin Clancy twice. The interceptions were returned for 43 yards and 59 yards respectfully.
The defense was led by Terry Reese; he racked up 12 total tackles on the day while outside linebacker Nate Ingersoll played well chipping in with 8 tackles on the day.
The Pioneer ground game was led by Joe Mesadiue; he toted the ball 22 times for 89 yards. The Pioneer passing attack was led Prophet, he went 16 of 26 for 208 yards with 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.
Prophet’s favorite target was Jordan Griffin hauling in 4 catches for 64 yards and 2 touchdowns with the final one sealing the deal for the Pioneers. Teammate Antwan Stewart grabbed 4 catches as well for 28 yards and a touchdown. Mario Wright also played well, with 3 receptions for 45 yards and a touchdown.
The Pioneers end the regular season with a 5-6 overall record and 4-4 in conference play.
