GSC Men Place 1st, Women Place 2nd in the Third Annual Brandi Bowen Invitational

The Glenville State College hosted the Thrid Annual Brandi Bowen Invitational on Friday afternoon at the D. Banks Wilburn track. There was six teams that competed in it among those teams were, Alderson-Broaddus, Charleston, Glenville State, Pitt-Johnstown, West Virginia State, and West Virginia Wesleyan.

For the GSC women Meghan Ruddlesden placed 1st in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.70, she also placed 1st in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.20, and she also placed 1st in the long jump with a distance of 5.23 meters.
Nicole Himes placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 62.79. In the 1500 meter run Beth Deren took 6th place with a time of 5:51.93.
Chelsea Stickelman placed 2nd for the Pioneers in the 3000 meter run with a time of 14:12.38.
In the high jump Danielle Perkins and Catherine Butcher placed 1st and 2nd for GSC, Perkins height was 1.57 meters while Butcher height was 1.47meters.
Butcher also placed 3rd in the long jump with a distance of 4.60 meters. Tara Collins placed 3rd in the triple jump with a distance of 8.90 meters.
In the shot put Cindy Hillberry took 1st place honors as she throw a 12.20 meters, while Alicia Cayton took home 4th place with a distance of 10.61 meters, and Kristen Golden placed 6th with a throw of 9.81 meters.
Cindy Hillberry also took 1st place honors in the discus throw with a distance of 34.40 meters, Betsy Nelson placed 3rd with a distance of 30.61 meters, and Alicia Cayton placed 5th with a throw of 27.79 meters.
In the hammer throw Hillberry placed 2nd with a throw of 38.92 meters, while Betsy Nelson placed 4th with a distance of 35.03 meters, and Alicia Cayton took 5th place with a distance of 33.44 meters.
And Tara Collins placed 4th in the javelin with a throw of 23.74 meters.
The women finished in 2nd place and scored 146 points.
On the men’s side in the 100 meter run Ronnie Mills took home 1st place honors with a time of 11.08, while Adam Leonard placed 3rd with a time of 11.34, and Claude Tindong placed 4th with a time of 11.74.
In the 200 meter run Mills took 2nd place with a time of 22.89 and David Sowell took 3rd place with a time of 23.19.
TJ Abel placed 1st in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.78. Marlon Henry placed 4th in the 5000 meter run with a time of 18:05.93. Dustin Woods placed 1st in the 10000 meter run with a time of 34:29.56 while Chris Hunter placed 4th with a time of 38:38.45.
In the 110 meter hurdles Mario Wright placed 1st with a time of 16.10 while Bradley Benson placed 2nd with a time of 18.43.
Wright also placed 2nd in the javelin throw with a distance of 42.00 meters, and placed 2nd in the high jump with a height of 1.87 meters.
Jordan Swiger placed 3rd in the javelin throw with a throw of 38.98 meters, he took 1st place in the high jump with a height of 1.93 meters. Swiger placed 2nd in the long jump with a distance of 6.23 meters and placed 2nd in the triple jump with a distance of 13.09 meters.
Also in the long jump D’Andre Johnson took home 1st place with a distance of 6.52 meters, while Jermane Allen placed 3rd with a distance of 6.16 meters, and David Sowell placed 4th with a distance of 5.93 meters.
D’Andre Johnson also placed in the triple jump with a distance of 12.02 meters.
Chris Freeman placed 2nd in the shot put with a distance of 16.82 meters, he placed 2nd in the discus throw with a distance of 40.38 meters, and placed 2nd in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.24 meters.
Mathew Porter placed 3rd in the shot put with a distance of 14.25 meters, he placed 4th in the discus throw with a throw of 34.52 meters, and placed 1st in the hammer throw with a distance of 45.61 meters.
Nicco Mills placed 5th in the shot put with a throw of 12.62 meters, he placed 3rd in the discus throw with a distance of 35.88 meters, and placed 4th in the hammer throw with a distance of 37.70 meters.
Justin Lantz placed 5th in the hammer throw with a distance of 23.15 meters.
The men finished in first place as they scored 231 points.
The track and field teams will take to the track again next Friday, April 15th when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan.
