GSC Track and Field Perform well at Wendy’s Bobcat Invitational

The Glenville State College Track and Field teams competed at West Virginia Wesleyan’s Wendy’s Bobcat Invitational on Friday April 16th. The Women’s team finished in 2nd place, while the Men finished in 3rd.

Women
In the Women’s 200 Meter Dash Nicole Himes finished 4th overall with a time of 27.84, she also finished 4th in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 62.30. Freshman Marteney Jacobs had a great meet, she finished 1st in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.39m, finished 3rd in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 15.64, and finished 3rd in the Triple Jump with a distance of 10.33m.
Also in the 400 Meter Hurdles Miranda Reed finished 2nd with a time of 67.46. Glenville dominated the Women’s Shot Put with Alicia Cayton finishing in 1st, Chelesa Tripp finished in 2nd, and Elsie Smith finishing in 4th.
Elsie Smith also placed 3rd in the Discus Throw and 2nd in the Hammer Throw.
Also in the Discus Throw two other GSC athletes placed, with Betsy Nelson finishing 4th and Chelsea Tripp finishing 5th.
Senior Lauren Saelens placed 4th in the Javelin Throw.
On the Men’s side GSC took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in the 100 Meter Hurdles with Akheem Figgs coming in 2nd, Joe Mesadieu finishing 3rd, and Ronnie Mills finishing 4th. David Sowell finished 2nd in the 200 Meter Dash with a time of 23.27.
In the 400 Meter Dash TJ Abel finished 1st with a time of 50.79, and in the 5000 Meter Run Dustin “Woddy” Wood finished 2nd with a time of 16:51.37.
In the Javelin Throw Max Beauburn placed 2nd with a distance of 48.44m.
The Track and Field team will return to action on April 24-25 for the WVIAC Multis. It will also take place at Glenville State College.
