GSC Runs Well In WVU Holiday Classic

The Glenville State Men’s and Women’s Track and Field team runs very well at the West Virginia University Holiday Classic. In the Women’s 55 meter dash Freshman Chelsea Stickelman placed 17th with a time of 8.37. Also Nicole Himes placed 4th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:02.50, in the women’ s 800 meter dash Rachael Stewart placed 8th with a time of 2:44.73 and Tanisha Bland finish 11th with a time 2:57.28 also Courtney Rzepka placed 12th and Candance Butler placed 13th.

Krystle Bailey placed 6th in the women’s 3000 meter run with a time of 12:55.50, Marteney Jacobs placed 2nd in the women’s 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.54, Jacobs also placed 6th in the women’s long jump, Tara Collins placed 7th in the women’s polo vault and placed 10th in the women’s long jump as well. Cindy Hillberry placed 3rd in the women’s shot put and Alicia Cayton placed 4th.
On the men’s side Akheem Figgs placed 1st, Xavier Glenn Placed 2nd and, Ronnie Mills placed 4th in the Men’ s55 meter dash. Akheem Figgs and Xavier Glenn also placed in the men’s 200 meter dash, with Glenn placing 1st and Figgs 2nd. In the men’s 1 mile run TJ Abel placed 1st with a time of 4:33.14 and Dustin Woods Placed 4th with a time of 4:50.91. Jordan Swiger placed 3rd in the men’s high jump and Akheem Figgs placed 8th. Swiger and Figgs both placed in the men’s long jump placing 3rd and 4th. And in the men’s shot put Chris Freeman placed 4th and Mathew Porter placed 7th.
The Track and Field team returns to action January 23 when they travel to Marietta.
