The Glenville State College Lady Pioneer volleyball team travelled to PA over the weekend to play #17 ranked Cal-PA and WVIAC opponent Seton Hill.
The Lady Pioneers came out and had a very strong showing against the nationally ranked Cal-PA team. As a matter of fact, according to Coach Maiden, it was the “strongest performance of the year, especially defensively!” The team did drop the match 15-25, 19-25, and 20-25, but were playing a stronger team than they had faced all season.
On Saturday, the Lady Pioneers travelled across the state and played WVIAC foe Seton Hill. The ladies came out with the same intensity from Friday night taking game one 25-19. The momentum swung in game two, and the Griffins of Seton Hill took games 2, 3, and 4.
“We had a lot of offensive opportunities, but just seemingly couldn’t put the ball away. Some of that is great defense, some is just lack of execution,” said Maiden.
GSC next travels to Alderson-Broaddus for a conference match on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
