The Lady Pioneer volleyball team closed out their first home stretch of the season in front of another amazing crowd. One Wednesday, the team had a “blackout” in Lilly Gymnasium with the majority of the crowd wearing black tops to go with the team’s black uniforms. The team was facing conference foe Salem International, who proved to be no match for the Lady Pioneers.
GSC took the match in three games in front of its home fans for the last time until Halloween night, 25-17, 25-9, and 25-9. Leaders on the night were Camai Roberson (16 kills on .67 hitting, 2 aces), Chelsea Tripp (7 kills on .75 hitting), Karly Eskew (4 kills, 7 aces), Jenn Hecht, Lauren Saelens, and Jessica Reynolds each added 6 digs for the Lady Pioneers.
The team heads to PA for the weekend to play California University of PA on Friday night, and conference foe Seton Hill on Saturday.
Coach Patrick Maiden wishes to thank the students, faculty, and staff for an incredibly successful week at home. “The crowds were outstanding, and plenty loud while being respectful to the opponent as well. Its everything a coach can hope for in a home match. We had recruits in over the weekend, and the game environment may have helped land a couple more outstanding players to help build the program,” said Maiden.
