The #6 seed Lady Pioneers dropped a tough five set match to #3 Seed University Of Charleston, friday night in Charleston, WV. After dropping game 1, 30-28, GSC turned around won game 2 by the score of 30-26. Game 3 saw the Pioneers hitters go cold, hitting at just a .095 clip, in a 30-21 loss.
Glenville State would force a 5th game, rallying from a 20-13 deficit to pick up a 30-25 game 4 victory. However the Pioneers would come up short, losing game 5 to the evenutally WVIAC Tournament Champions, 15-9.
GSC was paced by Meagon Monk’s 13 kills and 14 digs, Lauren Saelens’ 10 kills and 21 digs. All WVIAC Freshmen Team member Erica Hale, added 5 kills, 48 Assists and 18 digs.
The Pioneers finished the season with a fantastic 15-20 overall record after starting the season 0-8. The 10-8 WVIAC record is the most wins ever for a GSC team in conference play.
