WVIAC Volleyball Tournament Results

It was a sweep for higher seeds at day one of the WVIAC Volleyball Tournament.

#8 seed Pitt Johnstown (15-14) edged #9 Davis & Elkins (8-21) in the day’s thriller.  The Mountain Cats built an 11-3 lead in game five and weathered a late Senator charge.

#7 Fairmont State (11-20) rolled to a 3-0 rout of Ohio Valley (12-25).  The Falcons survived a five-game battle with OVU during the regular season, but this tournament go-around was much easier as Staci Skinner had a team-high 17 kills and 6 blocks.

#6 Glenville State shook off a sluggish start to oust #11 West Liberty State in four games.  #5 Alderson-Broaddus also required four games to eliminate #12 Shepherd.

Both local squads made quick work of their first round foes.  Ashlee Mishler had a dozen kills as #4 West Virginia State drilled #13 Concord.  #3 Charleston strolled past #14 Salem International.

#2 seed West Virginia Wesleyan completed the series of sweeps in rolling past winless Bluefield State.
