The GSC Lady Pioneers women’s golf team competed in West Virginia Wesleyan Johnny D. Barbour Invitational on Sunday, April 3rd and Monday, April 4th at Stonewall Jackson Resort.
In day one action Sammi Moore led the Lady Pioneers as she shot a 96 while Alex Fitzwater came in second with a 121.
Morgan Talbott came in third with a 146, while Olivia Ferrell shot a 149, and Candace Butler finished with a 218.
On day two the Lady Pioneers played better as Moore shot an 89 and Fitzwater shot a 113. Ferrell finished with a 129 after day two, while Talbott shot a 140, and Butler finished with a 239.
Moore finished the Invitational with a 185 as she finished 7th overall and was one stroke away from making All-Tournament team. Fitzwater finished with an overall 234 and Ferrell finished with a 278.
Talbott finished the Invitational with a 286 and Butler finished with a 457.
As a team the Lady Pioneers finished 6th out of 7 teams, overall the team shot a 983.
Wheeling Jesuit placed 1st, with Seton Hill finishing 2nd, and West Virginia Wesleyan finishing 3rd. Rounding out the rest of the field was Ohio Valley coming in 4th, Fairmont State finishing 5th, Glenville State 6th, and West Virginia State was 7th.
The Lady Pioneers will travel to Sandy Brea on Friday, April 8th for a duel match with West Virginia State.
