Softball Splits with Fairmont State

Lady pioneers softball

The Glenville State College Lady Pioneer Softball team split with Fairmont State on Saturday. The Lady Pioneers won game one 2-1.  In game one the Lady Pioneers got their bats swinging, they racked up 9 hits in the game with Leanne Harris, Erin Morgan, Karly Eskew, Katelyn Porter, and Christie Hittle all recording 1 hit.
Brittany Handley and Megan Lesser both recorded 2 hits in the game. The Lady Pioneers also stole several bases; Handley stole 2, while Harris stole 1 base along with Eskew as well.
Mandy Parkulo had a great game pitching. She went all 7 innings give up only 5 hits, 1 run, and only walked 2 batters. Parkulo also had 3 strikeouts in the game.
In game two the Lady Pioneers were still feeling it from the first game; they had a total of 11 hits in game two. Megan Lesser had 3 hits in the game and 1 RBI. Katelyn Porter had a great game with 3 hits, one of them being a homerun; she also recorded 4 RBI’s.
Erin Morgan had a good game recording 2 hits and 1 RBI. Brittany Handley, Christie Hittle, and Stacy Mack all recorded 1 hit in game two.
Jessica Fedor pitched 4.2 innings allowing 13 hits, 8 runs, and had 2 strikeouts. Parkulo came into the game in the 5th inning; she gave up 2 hits, 0 runs, and had 2 strikeouts.
The Lady Pioneers feel in game two 6-8. The Lady Pioneers are currently ranked 6th in the WVIAC at 22-23. They will return to action on Wednesday April 14 when West Virginia State travels the Glenville for a double header, first game is set of 5:00PM.
