gsc softball

The Lady Pioneers took a tough split with Salem International last Wednesday, in what will be their final WVIAC meeting with Salem International. Salem is playing their final season in the conference as they will resign from all WVIAC play effective May 1st. The Tigers have been ineligible for all championships this year.

In game one Karly Eskew and Leanne Harris recorded two hits apiece to lead the way as Glenville would take the opening contest 6-2. Junior hurler Laura Childers worked five innings allowing two earnes runs off six hits, while striking out four and recording her second win of the season.

In the second contest Salem jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second, and fought off two different Pioneer rallies to win the contest 6-4.  Freshman Meagan Lesser took the loss pitching dropping her to 1-4 on her freshman season. The loss came despite the fact that all nine Pioneers hitting at the start of the game reached base at least one time.
