Freshman Meagan Lesser overcame a three run homerun in the first inning to pitch a complete game for her first collegiate win. In seven innings Lesser allowed four earned runs off five hits, as Glenville defeated PSAC school Edinboro, 7-4.
At the plate Karly Eskew lead the way driving in three runs, while Brittney Handley and Brooke Foster drove in one run apiece also. After the first inning three run homerun by Edinboro’s Brittney Mackey, GSC trailed 3-0. They Pioneers would use a five run second to take the lead for good. Lesser is now 1-2 in the circle for her freshman campaign.
In the nightcap, Glenville State battled #13 in the nation Bloomsburg. Freshman Jess Fedor continued to stay hot in the circle working all eight innings of an extra inning loss, 2-1. GSC had a couple opportunities in the fifth and sixth to take the lead, but couldn’t come through sending the game to an extra inning tiebreaker, 0-0.
In the eighth Brittney Handley pushed across Sara Mcfarland with a two out infield single. On the game Fedor allowed one earned run on three hits and struckout four girls. Bloomsburg didn’t record their first hit until the fourth inning of the game. Glenville State moves onto Saturday when they will battle Shippensburg at 3 P.M. followed by Millersville at 5 P.M.
