With overcast skies and soggy conditions Glenville State College hosted it’s home cross country meet as a season preview to the WVIAC Cross Country championship course. Student-athletes, coaches and spectators alike stepped on the course today sporting pink ribbons in support of Beast Cancer awareness month. Eight WVIAC schools took advantage of the women’s 6k and men’s 8k courses as Glenville is set to host the WVIAC Cross Country Championships on October 24, 2009 starting at 10am.
WV Wesleyan’s women dominated the meet placing 6 girls in the top ten and finishing 1st through 4th in the individual standings. WV Wesleyan’s Jenna Brock cursied the course in record time at 26:21.15. The Griffins of Seton Hill finished second with 40 points as they placed 4 individuals in the top 10. The Pioneers were paced by top finisher Krystle Bailey in 18th place with a time of 30:54.70 setting a school course record.
On the men’s side WV Wesleyan edged regionally ranked (8)Seton Hill by 4 team points (32-36). Nate Edwards finished 1st for the Wesleyan Bobcats with a time of 28:37.09. The Pioneers were lead by 4th overall finisher Dustin Woods with a time of 29:40.83 teammate TJ Abel finished in the 6th with a time of 29:58.10.
Awards were given to the top 15 individuals in each race and also to the top team overall.
