The Lady Pioneers picked up a much needed sweep over Bluefield State as they look to keep pace with the top part of the WVIAC. GSC won game one 10-4 and game two 10-2 to improve to a remarkable 19-18 Overall and 15-7 in the WVIAC. Glenville, who started the season 1-10, is now 18-8 since then.
The Pioneers would capitalize on the Bluefield State fielding mistakes to pick up the win by a score of 10-4. GSC would explode for six runs in the 2nd inning, five of which would be unearned.
Bluefield State would answer right back with four runs of their own to pull back within two at 6-4.
The Lady Pioneers would add a single run in the 3rd and three more in the fourth to ice the game.
Laura Childers came on in the 2nd in relief of Mandy Parkulo to pick up the win. Childers went six innings, giving up one earned run on three hits while striking out two.
Morgan Elswick provided the offensive fire power as she went 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 5 RBI’s. The freshman had a Three-run 2B in the 2nd inning and a 2-run HR in the 4th inning. Brittney Handley went 3 for 3, reaching base all four times. Leanne Harris and Candace White each had two hits.
The Lady Pioneers used four run innings in the 3rd and 4th innings to break open a 2-2 ball game on their way to run ruling Bluefield State 10-2 in five innings.
Laura Childers went five innings giving up two runs, one earned on five hits.
Khole Maynard led the way offensively going 2 for 2 with a run scored, a HR and 4 RBI’s. Harris and Handley each had two hits apiece.
The Pioneers return to action this Wednesday as they travel to Shepherdstown, WV to take on Shepherd University
