The Lady Pioneers got a fantastic pitching performance in game two to earn a split with WV State University. After dropping game one 8-0, GSC picked up a 1-0 win in nine innings in game two. The Pioneers moved to 16-17 Overall and 12-6 in the WVIAC.
Glenville State fell behind early and often as they were run ruled 8-0 in five innings in the opener on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Jackets got three runs in the first, and then added on two runs in the 4th and three in the 5th to end the game.
Morgan Elswick took the loss, pitched just a third of an inning, allowing three runs, one earned.
Leanne Harris led the way offensively as she went 2 for 3.
Mandy Parkulo carried a no hitter through six innings, on her way to picking up a complete game shutout win by the score of 1-0 in nine innings.
Parkulo, scattered two hits while striking out two and walking none.
GSC would get the lone run of the ball game in the top half of the 9th inning. Harris would lead off with a single and move to second as the left fielder would bobble the ball. She would then move to third on a sacrifice bunt by Morgan Elswick.
Kohle Maynard would then lift a sac fly to left to score Harris.
Parkulo would retire the side on just five pitches in the bottom of the ninth to seal the win.
Karly Eskew went 2 for 3 for the Lady Pioneers.
