Lady Pioneer Softball Sweeps AB in Dramatic Fashion

The Glenville State softball team picked up a dramatic doubleheader sweep of the visiting Battles of Alderson-Broaddus this afternoon by a score of 3-1 and 6-5. With the two victories GSC improves to 6-11 on the season as they ran their winning streak to three games.
Game 1
The Pioneers would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the opening game as Karly Eskew would plate Brittney Handley with a one out double.
The Lady Battlers would quickly tie the game up in the top of the 2nd on a two out single. Both pitchers would shut down the opposition as the game went into extra innings.
After holding AB scoreless in both the extra frames, GSC would go to work in the top of the ninth.
Eskew would lead of the 9th with a double and move to third on a sacrifice by Candace White.
AB would help Glenville out the rest of the way as pitcher Mereaha Cooper would throw 12 straight balls, walking Morgan Elswick, Kohle Maynard and Lacey Williams. The third walk would score Eskew to give the Lady Pioneers a 2-1 victory.
Game 2
AB would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the top half to the 2nd, but it would be quickly answered as Maynard will drill the 2-2 pitch over the left field fence to make for a 2 run HR.
The Lady Battlers would get two in the top of the 3rd to go back on top 3-2, as the scoring would quite until the 7th.
AB would use three straight doubles in the top of the 7th to add on two insurance runs and hold a 5-2 advantage going into the last half of the 7th.
AB would quickly get the 1st out as Courtney Rezepka would fly out to left field.
Handley would get things going as she would reach base on an error. Leanne Harris would single and Eskew would load the bases with a walk.
Then Candace White would drill the 2-1 offering for a walk off grand slam to give the Lady Pioneers a 6-5 come from behind victory.
