The Glenville State College Lady Pioneers downed the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots by a final of 112-77. The Lady Pioneers had nine players score in double figures with Danielle Woodmore leading the way with 19 points.
The Lady Pioneers got off to a quick start as they took a 25-14 lead in the first half at the 13:37 mark. Once the Lady Pioneers took the eleven point lead they never looked back as they ran away with the victory.
The Lady Pioneers defense caused Ohio Valley all kind of problems as they held OVU to only 36 percent shooting from the floor and from behind the arc. OVU also turned the ball over 28 times in which the Lady Pioneers converted into 47 points.
The Lady Pioneers also had a real advantage as they scored 42 points in the paint to OVU’s 28 points.
Woodmore lead GSC in scoring with 19 points while Catherine Butcher, Kenyell Goodson, and Mishae Miles all scored 12 points. Miles also pulled down 13 rebounds for a double double on the afternoon.
Senior’s Kim Stephens and Autumn Davis both scored 11 points while fellow senior Kristen Golden scored 10 points. Tenisha Wilson and Beth Deren also chipped in with 10 points as well.
Senior Miranda Reed scored 2 points but dished out a game high 8 assists.
Ohio Valley was led by Amber Avery as she poured in a game high 23 points and grabbed a team high 9 rebounds. Danielle Sims came off the bench to score 12 points for the Fighting Scots.
With the win the Lady Pioneers finish the regular season undefeated at home.
The Lady Pioneers are 19-8 (17-5) on the season and will battle Alderson-Broaddus at home on Monday night at 7:30PM in their first match up in the 2011 WVIAC Tournament.
