Softball Competes in North Carolina

The Lady Pioneer softball squad got their first taste of competition this season as they headed down to North Carolina this past weekend to face Catawba College, Lenoir-Rhyne College, and Mars Hill College.  GSC features a pitching staff that is all freshmen, as well as several other freshmen gaining starts in other positions.  Their youth and inexperience hampered them at times during their double-headers, and the Lady Pioneers returned home with a 0-6 record for the weekend’s competition.
Friday, February 16th
Catawba College defeated Glenville State both games.
Game One:  6-2     Box Score
Game Two:  8-0     Box Score
Saturday, February 17th
Lenoir-Rhyne College defeated Glenville State both games.
Game One:  10-2    Box Score
Game Two:   8-0     Box Score
Sunday, February 18th
Mars Hill College defeated Glenville State both games.
Game One:  9-0     Box Score
Game Two:  6-3     Box Score
The Lady Pioneers return to action when they travel to North and South Carolina for their Spring Break competition.  They will face St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Fayetteville State, UNC-Pembroke, Coker College, Wingate University, and Catawba College.  The Lady Pioneers’ first set of games will be on March 11th, and they will play every day of the break except for Thursday.  They will return to Glenville Saturday, and face conference opponent West Liberty State College on Sunday, March 18th; the first game of that double-header is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
