GSC Women Move on to Second Round

Petties GSC Women's BasketballThe Glenville State College Lady Pioneers handed Alderson-Broaddus a 119-86 loss tonight. The Lady Pioneers got on a nice roll tonight, and it’s coming at the right time as they head into the Charleston Civic Center for the second round game against West Liberty State University Wednesday night.

The Lady Pioneers led at half time 52-45, and never looked back. The Lady Pioneers shot 47 percent from the floor and 34 percent from behind the three point line, which is a much better percentage shooting then they have been as of late.
The Lady Pioneers had five players score in double figures with Kristen Golden having a break out game with 35 points. Alderson-Broaddus had no answer for Golden in the paint; she shot an amazing 68 percent for the game, going 15 of 21.
Senior Donita Adams also played a great game, she scored 19 of her 25 points in the first half, and she also grabbed a game high of 8 rebounds. Beth Deren chipped in with 15 points, while Kim Stephens scored 13 points going 3 of 4 from behind the arc, and Suzi Harvey scored 11 points on the night.
Miranda Reed played a great defensive game for the Lady Pioneers; she was all over the court and had a game high of 6 steals. The Lady Pioneers defense forced 38 turnovers while GSC only committed 15 their selves.
Alderson-Broaddus was led by Lauren Reed with 21 points.             
The Lady Pioneers return to action Wednesday against West Liberty State University at the Charleston Civic Center, tipoff is set for 8:30PM.
