(Glenville, WV) – The Glenville State Pioneers fell behind early and could never recover as they fell to Seton Hill, 94-67 at Lilly Gymnasium. Emmanuel Jackson led five Griffins’ in double figures with 27 points. Jackson also chipped in seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Mateja Dicic added 18 points and eight boards for SHU as they improved to 4-10 and 3-4 in WVIAC play on the year.
The Pioneers who struggled most of the game to find a rhythm, were led by 14 points from Anthony Kimble and 12 points from Mykail Vibbert.
The Griffins would score earlier and often as they raced out to a 46 – 28 halftime lead. SHU shot 58% from the field in the half and connected on 7 of 13 three point attempts. Tied 12-12 seven minutes in, Seton Hill would outscore the Pioneers 34-16 over the final 13 minutes of the half. Jackson had 14 1st half points as he connected on 5 of 8 field goal attempts, including 4 of 6 from the 3pt line.
Glenville State would make things interesting in the 2nd half as they would use a 12-2 run over three minutes to cut the lead to eight at 64-56 with 8:58 remaining in the game. The Griffins would quickly answer as they would outscore Glenville State 30-11 over the rest of the half.
The active Griffins defense forced the Pioneers into 19 turnovers and held them to a dismal 5-19 (26%) from the 3pt line. The much taller Seton Hill squad held a plus seven rebounding advantage, 32-25.
The Pioneers travel to West Liberty this Thursday to take on the 13-1 and 2nd place Hilltoppers. Tip Off is at 7:30 pm.
