The Glenville State Pioneers Men’s Basketball team blew a 10 point second half lead in falling to WV Wesleyan, 86-81, on the campus of Fairmont State University tonight.. After heading to the intermission with a 2 point lead, the Pioneers quickly went to work in the 2nd half, as they opened with a quick 10-2 run to extened the lead to 10. The Pioneers would battle tough and hold the lead until the 6:02 mark when the Bobcats would take over the lead for good on a E.J. Lucas 3pt play, making it 74-73.
GSC dominated the numbers as they outshot WVWC from the field (51% to 49%), from the 3pt line (44% to 29%) and from the FT line (75% to 68%). The Pioneers were hamstrung by turnovers as they turned the ball over 25 times, while WV Wesleyan turned it over 16.
The Pioneers were led by 30 points from Tryvan Leech, as he was 8 of 15 from the field, 6 of 9 from the 3pt line and 8 of 9 from the line. He also chipped in six rebounds. Mykail Vibbert added 19 points and six boards, and Marcus Catney chimed in with 14 points.
Glenville State returns to action tomorrow afternoon at 2pm against OSU – Newark, back at Fairmont State.
