The Lady Pioneers had no answer for WV Wesleyan’s Sarah Van Horn as she scored 35 as GSC fell behind early and was unable to catch up, eventually falling 70-54 in the WVIAC regular season finale. Van Horn, who went over the 2000 point mark in the game, connected on 17 of 23 shots , while recording eight steals and five rebounds as the host Bobcats wrapped up the #3 seed in next weeks conference tournament.
The Lady Pioneers were paced by Donita Adams’ 20 points and six boards, while Kristen Golden recorded a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds. Glenville was again plagued by poor shooting and turnovers as they fall to 9-18 Overall and 7-13 in the WVIAC.
GSC would shoot just 27% in the opening half, compared to 57% for WVWC as they would fall behind 39-23 at the break.
The second half would see Glenville State shoot at a much better clip, connecting on 48% of their attempts, but WV Welseyan would counter that by shooting 52% in the half to squash any hopes of a comeback.
The Lady Pioneers return to action this Monday as the #11 seed in the WVIAC Tournament. They will travel to Greensburg, PA to take on the #6 seed Lady Griffins of Seton Hill. Tip Off is 7:30 p.m.
