Lady Pioneers Drop A Heartbreaker

The Lady Pioneers dropped a heartbreaker tonight to the visiting Lady Lions of Concord, 62-60, in WVIAC WBB action from Lilly Gymnasium. CU’s Sierra Brown hit a layup with 3.7 seconds to go to give her team the win. Christine DiSabato’s 35 foot last second shot would just rim out as the buzzer sounded. 
Concord, which improves to 12-12 Overall and 10-7 in the WVIAC, would get 21 points and six boards from Brown and would also receive a double-double from Center Amber Showalter, as she chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds. 
Mallory Menendez would pace the Lady Pioneers with 21 points, connecting on 7 of 12 field goals including 5 of 7 from the three point line. Donita Adams added 13 points and five rebounds for GSC as they fall to 8-16 Overall and 6 -11 in the WVIAC.
The teams would go into the locker room at half deadlocked at 28 all. Glenville would connect on 40% of their shots, including 6 of 10 from downtown in the opening frame. 
The back and forth affair would see seven ties and 14 lead changes. Trailing by three, DiSabato would connect on a triple form the left arch with 13 seconds to go to knot the game at 60.  
The Lady Pioneers return to action on Saturday as they travel to Philippi to take on Alderson-Broaddus. Tip Off is 5:30 p.m.
