WV Wesleyan Too Much For Lady Pioneers

The Lady Pioneers faltered down the stretch as they fell to the Lady Bobcats of WV Wesleyan, 66-57, in WVIAC action tonight from Lilly Gymnasium.   WVWC Sarah Van Horn recorded a triple double with 16 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. The reigning WVIAC player of the week also added four blocks and two steals as the Lady Bobcats improved to 12-7 Overall and 9-3 in the WVIAC.

Glenville State was led by 14 points each from Donita Adams and Christine DiSabato. Beth Deren added 10 as GSC fell to 6-12 Overall and 4-8 in the WVIAC.
WVWC also got 14 from Sierra Holstein and 13 from Lydia Bridenbaugh.
The Lady Pioneers would grab a 30-28 halftime advantage behind nine points from Mallory Menendez, eight points from Adams and seven from Beth Deren. GSC was able to hold Van Horn to just four points in the opening frame. 
WV Wesleyan would open the second half outscoring Glenville State 10-2 over the opening 5:07 to grab a six point advantage at 38-32. 
A quick 5-0 spurt would pull Glenville to within one at 38-37 with 14:02 to go. 
However that was as close as GSC would be the rest of the game. 
WVWC would outscore the Lady Pioneers 22 to 12 over the next nine minutes to put the contest away.
For the game GSC shot just 35.6% compared to 48.1% from the Lady Bobcats, including a scorching 53.6% in the second half for Wesleyan. 
The Lady Pioneers return to action this Saturday as they play host to WVIAC leading Pitt – Johnstown. Tip Off is 5:30.
