The Glenville State Pioneers rallied late but eventually fell to the WV Wesleyan Bobcats, 84-69, this afternoon in WVIAC MBB action from Lilly Gymnasium. WVWC was an led by Justin Caldwell’s game high 30 points on 10 of 16 shooting. Ryan Hoehner recorded 20 and 18 rebounds.

The Pioneers were paced by Groves’ 22 points and Anthony Kimble added 20 points.
Glenville State would fall behind by double digits in the first half has they would connect on just 5 of 17 3pt attempts. A late three by Groves would cut the margin to seven, 42-35 at the break.
The opening 10 minutes of the 2nd half would be much of the same for GSC, as WVWC would open a 14 point lead after a Kenny Batson three would make it 59-45, with 10:56 to go in the game.
The Pioneers would then kick things into gear and run off 12 straight points, capped off by a Tryvan Leech three to make it 59-57 with 7:59 remaining.
Glenville State would keep things close and after a Kimble would be down just one, 69-68, with 3:01 to go.
However, the layup would be the last field goal of the game, as GSC’s shooters would go ice cold.
The Pioneers would miss their final six shots, and mixed with three turnovers, WV Wesleyan would end the game on a 15-0 run, including making 8 of 10 free throws.
For the game Glenville State would shoot 40.6 percent from the field and just 6 of 26 from the three point line.
The Pioneers will open the WVIAC tournament on the road as they travel to the University of Charleston this Tuesday, to take on the Golden Eagles. Tip Off is at 7:30 PM.
