Karina Kendrick paced the Lady Pioneers with 17 points, as Glenville State downed the Lady Senators of Davis & Elkins, 79-49, in WVIAC action tonight from Elkins. Kendrick made 8 of 12 shots, grabbed nine rebounds and recorded six steals as GSC raced out to a 40-18 1st half lead and never looked back.
Donita Adams and Miranda Reed each chipped in 14 points. Kim Stephens added 11 points and Kristen Golden dropped in 10 points as the Lady Pioneers improved to 16-10 overall and 14-5 in WVIAC play.
The Lady Senators were led by Courtney Pawlak’s double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. D&E struggled from the field shooting just 32.1 percent as they fell to 6-20 overall and 3-14 in the league.
The Lady Pioneers shot 51.7 % from the field and 81.8 % from the foul line, while outrebounding their opponents 40-35. The Glenville State defense forced 23 turnovers while committing just 15.
The Pioneers will play host to 7th WV Wesleyan Saturday in a key contest to determine the final regular season standings. Tip Off for Senior Night is at 2:00 PM.
