The Glenville State Lady Pioneers rolled over the Lady Griffins of Seton Hill, 83-54 in WVIAC women’s basketball action tonight at Lilly Gymnasium. Junior Mallory Menendez led four Pioneers in double digits with a game high 20 points including four three pointers. Senior Karina Kendrick added 15 points and 8 boards, Sophomore Donita Adams chipped in 14 points and Freshman Kristen Golden added 13 points and 8 rebounds.
Lady Pioneers Pound Seton Hill, 83-54
GSC, who shot a scorching 61% from the field, improved to 6-8 and 4-3 in the WVIAC play. Seton Hill, who dropped to 6-8 and 2-5 in conference play, were led by Katie Lintner’s 16 points and nine rebounds.
Trailing 8 to 5 three minutes in, the Lady Pioneers would seize control on a Donita Adams’ layup to make it 10 to 8 and never look back. Glenville State would outscore the Griffins 33-16 over the final 17 minutes to give them a 38-24 lead at the break.
The 2nd half was much of the same as the Pioneers would stretch the lead to as many as 33, before settling on the final margin, 29.
The Lady Pioneers’ swarming defense forced Seton Hill in to 26 turnovers and held them to 34% from the field and 29% from the 3pt line.
The Glenville State Women return to action this Thursday as they travel to West Liberty to take on the Lady Hilltoppers. Tip Off is 5:30pm.
