Wheeling, WV – The Lady Pioneers basketball team picked up their third win of the season as they beat Wheeling Jesuit 107-93 on Saturday, November 19th.
Both teams went back and fourth in the early minutes of the first half but the Cardinals took a 19-13 lead at the half way mark of the first half.
The Pioneers though battled and regained the lead at the 4:30 mark in the first half as Ginny Petties hit a three, making it 40-37.
Despite the late led the Lady Pioneers gave it right back as Wheeling Jesuit took a 51-50 lead into halftime.
In the second half the Lady Pioneers came out firing on all cylinders as they got out to eight point lead 73-65. GSC used that great start to build onto that lead as they defeated the Cardinals 107-93.
Danielle Woodmore led GSC with 20 points and dished out 10 assists as she recorded her first double double of the year. Mishae Miles scored 18 points for the Lady Pioneers while Tenisha Wilson scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for a double double.
Ginny Petties scored 15 points, while Beth Deren scored 14 points, and Kenyell Goodson chipped in with 11 points.
Cassy Sanderson led Wheeling Jesuit with 28 points and grabbed six rebounds. Lucy DeFruscio scored 27 points and dished out seven assist while Emily Robinson scored 11 points for the Cardinals.
The Lady Pioneers are now 3-1 and 2-0 in the WVIAC Conference, they will return to action this Tuesday, November 22nd when Concord University travels to Glenville for the Lady Pioneers open home opener. Tip-off is set for 4:00PM.
