Institute, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers pick up their sixth win of the season as they downed WVIAC Conference foe West Virginia State on Thursday night by a final 108-78.

GSC fell behind in the early minutes as West Virginia State jumped out to a 6-1 lead, but the Lady Pioneers then went on a five point run as they took a 7-6 lead.

The teams then battled back and fourth until the 9:31 mark in the first when Mishae Miles scored a triple as she made a layup and drained the free throw as GSC took a nine point lead 25-16.

GSC continued to build on their lead as they took a 23 point lead into halftime 57-34.

West Virginia State would try to get back in it in the second half but could only cut the lead to 20 points as the Lady Pioneers went on to win big 108-78.

The Lady Pioneers shot 43 percent while West Virginia State only shot 32 percent. GSC defense caused 28 turnovers and converted that into 30 points.

GSC had six ladies score in double figures with Tenisha Wilson leading the way with 20 points. Mishae Miles scored 19 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as she recorded her fifth double double of the year.

Kenyell Goodson scored 18 points on seven of nine shooting while Ginny Petties scored 14 points and had a game high nine steals.

Danielle Woodmore and Jelena Elez both scored 11 points for the Lady Pioneers while Elez also dished out a game high seven assists.

West Virginia State was led by Chelsey Davis scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Jasmine Blanton was the only other player to score in double figures as she scored 13 points. Sissy Wagner dished out five assists.

The Lady Pioneers return to action this Saturday, December 10th as they travel to Lynchburg, VA as they take on Liberty University. Game time is set for 2:00PM.
