Lynchburg, VA – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers traveled to Lynchburg, Virginia to take on Liberty University Saturday afternoon but hit a road bump as they fell 65-116.
Liberty jumped out to a quick 12-0 lead in the early minutes of the first half and GSC never got back into the game as Liberty cruised to the victory.
Liberty won the turnover battle as they forced 33 GSC turnovers and converted them into 28 points while Liberty turned it over 26 times as GSC only converted them into 18 points.
Liberty dominated in the paint as they outscored GSC 80 to 16; they also had a big advantage on second chance points as Liberty scored 36 second chance points to GSC’s 7.
Liberty shot 51 percent while the Lady Pioneers shot 28 percent. Liberty also shot 62 percent from behind the three point line while GSC only shot 25 percent.
The Lady Pioneers were led by Beth Deren as she scored 18 points. Tenisha Wilson chipped in with 15 points and dished out a team high six assists. Wilson also had seven steals in the game.
Mishae Miles just missed a double double as she scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Liberty had five players score in double figures. Avery Warley and Devon Brown both scored 20 points while Warley grabbed 18 rebounds and Brown grabbed 11 as they both recorded double doubles.
Jasmine Gardner scored 19 points while Reagan Miller scored 13 points, and Danika Dale chipped in with 12 points.
The Lady Pioneers return to action January 4th when they take on Shepherd University at home. Game time has been changed to 5:00PM.
