Glenville, WV – The Glenville State Men’s basketball team tried to keep it close but the West Liberty Hilltoppers proved to be too much as the Pioneers fell 97-69.
The Pioneers kept it close for most of the first half but the Hilltoppers pulled away late as they took a 45-37 lead heading into the half.
In the second half it was all Hilltoppers as they grabbed a 34 point lead as they won 97-66.
GSC turned the ball over 16 times while the Hilltoppers turned it over 12 times.
The Hilltoppers also dominated the Pioneers in the paint as they outscored them 54-24.
Kevin Gray led the Pioneers in scoring with 20 points, while Jamel Morris scored 12 points. Chris Abney was the only other Pioneer to score in double figures with 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
The Hilltoppers had five players score in double figures with Chris Morrow and CJ Hester both scored 19 points. Hester also grabbed a game high 11 rebounds. Alex Falk scored 16 points and dished out a game high seven assist while Shawn Dyer and Cedric Harris both scored 13 points.
The Pioneers return to action Monday when they travel to the University of Charleston. Tip-off is set for 8:00PM.
