Track & Field Competes at WVU State Farm Games

Morgantown, WV – The Glenville State College Men’s and Women’s track and field teams competed in the West Virginia University State Farm Games on Saturday, January 21st.“Both teams competed very very well at this meet, it’s probably one of the best meets that I have been a part of while GSC”, said Head Coach Cam Perry.

For the women, Meghan Ruddlesden had a very good day.  Ruddlesden finished in first place in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.17, second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.55. Freshman Jessica Montgomery finished sixth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.58, 12th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 31.03. Montgomery also placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 4.38m

Also placing in the women’s long jump for GSC was Marteney Jacobs. Jacobs finished first with a distance of 5.01m, while teammate Danielle Perkins finished second with a distance of 4.97m.

Jacobs also finished second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.80 and placed first in the triple jump with a time of 9.86m.

Perkins also placed third in the high jump with a height of 1.63m.

In the 400 meter dash Nicole Himes finished in seventh for GSC with a time of 1:05.02, and in the 800 meter dash Tanisha Bland finished sixth with a time of 3:00.27, while teammate Courtney Rezepka placed eighth with a time of 3:20.15.

Chelsea Stickelman finished eighth in the 3000 meter run with a time of 14:48.03. Kelsey Flinn finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 2.20m.

In the shot put Cindy Hillberry took home first place with a throw of 12.58m while Nycole Wymer finished 11th with a distance of 6.76m. Hillberry also placed fourth in the weight throw with a distance of 11.54m and Wymer finished seventh with a distance of 6.82m.

On the men’s side, Ronnie Mills finished third in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.17 while Adam Leonard finished fourth with a time of 7.18.

Leonard also placed fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.67 while freshman Seth Aldridge finished 11th with a time of 24.54. Aldridge also placed sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.47 while Boris Nimcevic finished eighth with a time of 55.73.

Senior TJ Abel came in third for GSC in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:09.48. Abel also placed second in the one mile run with a time of 4:35.75.

Chris Hunter finished in fourth place in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:34.69.

In the 60 meter hurdles Bradley Benson finished sixth with a time of 9.98. In the pole vault William Sarine placed third with a height of 3.85m.

The Pioneers took first, second, and third in the long jump with DeAndre Johnson coming in first with a distance of 6.12m, Jermine Allen placing second with a distance of 6.00m, and Tyrease Brown placed third with a distance of 5.96m.

Allen also finished in first place in the triple jump with a jump of 12.60m.

Matty Porter placed first in the shot put with a distance of 13.81m and finished first in the weight throw with a distance of 14.05m. Nicco Mills placed third in the shot put with a throw of 12.18m and placed third in the weight throw with a distance of 11.52m. Jared Shipe placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 12.13m and placed second in the weight throw with a distance of 11.80m.

The Men’s and Women’s track and field teams return to action February 3rd when they travel to Marietta. Congratulations on a great track meet and good luck in there next meet.
