Glenville, WV – The Glenville State Lady Pioneers went on a late run in the second half as they downed Fairmont State 92-78.
The Lady Pioneers took an early lead 6-2 at the 16:42 mark in the first half but would later loss the lead when the Fighting Falcons took a 13-10 lead at the 11:11 mark.
GSC struggled to score in the first half but ended up taking a slim lead into halftime 38-33.
In the second half it was a different story as the Lady Pioneers extended their lead to 12 points 53-41 at the 15:50 mark in the second half.
GSC would cruise to a 14 point win 92-78 as they improve to 12-4 and 10-2 in conference play.
The Lady Pioneers held a slight advantage on the boards over Fairmont State 59 to 53.
Tenisha Wilson tallied 27 points, eight rebounds and four assists in the win for the Pioneers. Mishae Miles accounted for 16 points and 12 rebounds while Danielle Woodmore had 11 points and a game-high 12 assists.
Kenyell Goodson netted 13 points and Ginny Petties had 12 off the bench. Beth Deren added 11 in the win. GSC sank 13 three-point buckets.
Hailey Garrett registered 16 points and 10 boards to lead FSU. Briana Welch contributed 15 while Emily Lohr netted 13. Kelsi Wright amassed 12 points and four assists to go along with a team-high three steals.
The Lady Pioneers return to action Saturday when Wheeling Jesuit travel to Glenville. Game time is set for 2:00 PM; also don’t forget to wear Black for the BLACK OUT!
