Glenville, WV – With the score tied at 70 apiece, Kevin Gray converted a conventional three point play to give the Pioneers a 73-70 lead with 49 seconds left, and GSC would eventually hold on to beat Wheeling Jesuit 79-72.
Both teams battled back and fourth in the first half but the Cardinals took a slight lead into halftime 37-36 over the Pioneers.
In the second half GSC would out score the Cardinals 43 to 35 as they pulled out the huge upset 79-72.
Kevin Gray paced the Pioneers with 28 points as he hit five three point field goals. Andy Dollman also had a great game as he scored 17 points as he went 8 for 11 in the game.
Nate Cash also gave a great effort as he scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Jamel Morris scored 10 points. Mark Walker grabbed a game high nine rebounds.
The Cardinals were led by Marquis Moore and Obi Ukwuoma as they both scored 15 points. Recardo Gaddy also chipped in with 10 points.
The Pioneers return to action next Wednesday when Davis & Elkins travels to Glenville. Game time is set for 7:30PM.
