Buckhannon, WV – The Lady Pioneers traveled to Buckhannon, West Virginia and walked away with a huge conference victory over West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats 88-80.
The Bobcats took a quick lead in the early minutes of the first half but the Lady Pioneers tied the game at 15 all at the 9:30 mark after Mishae Miles drilled a jumper.
The Lady Pioneers finally took their first lead of the game at the 7:47 mark in the first when Beth Deren drilled one of her four three pointers as they took a 23-22 lead.
GSC would never trail again in the game as they held on for an eight point win as they defeated the Bobcats 88-80.
GSC out scored the Bobcats 36 to 32 in the paint.
The Lady Pioneers had four players score in double figures with Danielle Woodmore scoring a team high 18 points and handed out three assists. Tenisha Wilson scored 17 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out three assists.
Mishae Miles and Beth Deren both chipped in with 14 points while Miles also grabbed a game high 19 rebounds for her 14th double double of the year.
The Bobcats were led by Lydia Bridenbaugh with 27 points and eight rebounds. Daria Abros’kina scored 22 points in the loss and grabbed nine rebounds. Jamie Kaufman grabbed a double double with 16 points and 12 rebounds while Brittany Maxey scored 10 points.
The Lady Pioneers record is now 15-5 and 13-3 in conference play and return to action Saturday, February 11th when they return home to take on the University of Charleston. Game time is set for 2:00PM.
