Glenville, WV – On a snowy day in Glenville, the Glenville State Lady Pioneers defeated the University of Charleston Golden Eagles by 29 points 112-83 as they win their second in a row.
The Lady Pioneers jumped out to a 7-0 lead at the 18:40 mark in the first half and never looked back as they would never trail in the game, rolling to a 112-83 victory.
GSC’s defense caused 17 turnovers while they turned it over 15 times their selves. The Lady Pioneers converted those turnovers into 21 points on the night. GSC also held a advantage in the paint as they outscored the Golden Eagles 34 to 26.
Beth Deren led the Lady Pioneers with 23 points as she drilled seven three pointers in the game. Jelena Elez also had a great game as she scored 22 points and dished out a game high 16 assists for a double double.
Mishae Miles grabbed her 15th double double on the year as she had 19 points and a game high 12 rebounds. Tenisha Wilson scored 17 points for GSC while Kenyell Goodson scored 11 points.
The Golden Eagles were led by Chrissy Keir with 15 points while Erika Cuttaia scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds. Marilene Dozier chipped in with 12 points.
The Lady Pioneers are currently sitting at first place in the WVIAC at 16-5 (14-3) and have a huge match up Monday, February 13th when they travel to Athens, West Virginia to take on Concord University. Game time is set for 5:30 PM.
